Where are They Now? A Guide to the Last of the AGSM Faculty

by

Over the years I have interacted with a host of former AGSM (Australian Graduate School of Management) alums who queried me about the whereabouts of many of their former instructors.  While the “brand” of the AGSM remains and is still advertised, most will know that the actual entity of the AGSM was dissolved as of 2007 and folded into UNSW’s Faculty of Commerce and Economics (FCE).  The AGSM faculty were removed from their offices in the AGSM building and “co-located with their peers” in the FCE, leaving the classes to be taught in a building that today houses some research centres from the Faculty of Medicine and the office of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.   As of today, there is little that remains of the AGSM with even the “School of Strategy and Entrepreneurship” — which was created from the rump of the General Management Group from the AGSM and handled most all of the EMBA teaching — having been folded into the existing the FCE’s School of Management.

By the end of 2009 about 60% of the AGSM faculty who were on the books in 2006-2007 were gone.  By the end of 2012, that number was about 90%.  So the “AGSM” today is certainly not the AGSM that existed in the past, with the vast majority of the faculty known to former students gone.  However, to help them keep track, I have gone through the last phone list I had and updated the listing of faculty with their current affiliation or professional life circumstance.  To keep this up-to-date, feel free to contact me and let me know if there are any changes or errors.  Those faculty who are currently still full-time non retired faculty at UNSW teaching on AGSM Programs are show in Italics.  Those that were on the AGSM faculty at the end and are still at UNSW but no longer teach on MBA/EMBA programs are indicated with an * but not italicized as their relationship to the program is no longer active.  Those deceased are indicated with an †)

I would also note that Bob Marks has kept an archive of the AGSM website as of 2006.  It is a bit clunky but has copies of the old magazines and other information.  For those wanting a bit of nostalgia head on over to:
